If House of Lancaster goes fast Castle Age with Earl's Guard, English Longbowman can penetrate armor early. But Earl's Guard have movement speed and a ranged attack.
House of Lancaster has access to the Hobelar which has +1 pierce armor, compared to the Longbowman's +1 pierce damage.
Once English gets Armor Clad Men-at-Arms, House of Lancaster has no counter unit, but Yeomen with Synchronized Shot can change the tides.
With Shire Levy, House of Lancaster can quickly mass Yeomen, which take good engagements against English spearmen.
