The longer feudal goes as Japanese gets their daimyo manor levels up, even with the first and the melee upgrades on those horsemen, their horsemen with the Uma Bannerman are going to be just straight up better than the Ghazi Raiders against each other. The Yumi quite similar as well. If they have that Yumi Bannerman will just be better than Delhi's archers.
Japan seems like a civilization that has a lot of very strong tools when it comes to dealing with Delhi at least in Feudal Age. Later on it starts becoming a little bit harder when we start seeing the elephants come out, but at least early on, units like the Onna-Bugeisha feel very solid at denying sacred sites from Ghazi Raiders.
With Koka and pro scouts you can play mass Horsemen Shinobi blob; it's really strong. Delhi would have to go archers, and the micro can get annoying. The reason why going Horseman is really good for Japanese is once you have your Bannerman, the damage buff puts you on par with Ghazi, so the only difference then is the health pool, which can be mitigated by the slight difference in attack speed.
Opening stable immediately is a bit funky against Delhi. There are a lot of matchups where the Bannerman build is nice because you get a very fast-producing Knight, but against Delhi they have Ghazis with bonus damage versus heavy, so they fare a little bit better.
The classic Bannerman and fast Castle build is usually more effective against civs that don't play Feudal Age. Against Delhi they were always going to build Ghazi, so this doesn't really disrupt their timing; it almost feels like it slows yours down.
