Freeborn Warriors idle a lot of Abbasid villagers, but because they don't have good damage, they don't necessarily net kills. It's a death by a thousand cuts approach; it takes quite a while to fully pay off.
The camel debuff is crucial; malians must remove the camel immediately or they won't win cavalry engagements.
Abbasid's Culture Wing takes 1 minute 30 seconds to age up, while malians can rush the Grand Fulani Corral with many villagers to reach Castle Age faster.
Against Abbasid, consider prioritizing Farimba Garrison over Grand Fulani Corral.
Freeborn Warriors have 175 HP and 5 ranged armor, making them incredibly survivable and a threat to Abbasid scaling.
Against Abbasid archer masses, Farimba Garrison into Freeborn Warriors is very desirable.
Poison arrows make Malian archers better against armor, but they struggle against mass archers, especially Abbasid composite bow archers.
It's dangerous to go Pro Scouts against Abbasid: it lets them get their second TC up in perfect positioning, extend House of Wisdom influence for gather speed, and the TC pays off by the time you're bringing deer home.
It can't just be Musofadi Warriors and Freeborn; there's a good answer to that with Camel Riders. Those can deal pretty well with the Musofadi warriors. On top of that, Camel Archers also do bonus damage against the Musofadi Warriors.
