Once you have poison arrows on your archers, the Camel Lancers will really struggle against that.
In any given game, Sofas with imported armor would be awesome. But you're facing Camel Lancers, and Camel Lancers will just absolutely massacre the Sofas.
Having enough production buildings to mass Donso is what you need to keep Ayyubid camel lancers at bay.
Those Manjaniqs are frankly a win condition. Malians really don't have a unit that can answer them except a heavy frontline of cavalry like Sofa.
Ayyubid gets hit by a brick wall when they run out of food, especially without a farm transition. It's really tough to claw into a long game against Malians once the tempo is lost.
Donso and Javelins do well to stem the early tide of Ayyubid units.
Donso make quick work of Camel Lancers, so Ayyubids should limit stable production.
Ayyubid archers need veteran upgrades to overcome a decent mass of Malian Javelins.
Manjaniq makes Javelin and Sofa compositions tricky for Malians.
For Ayyubid against Malians, holding the center is often the only win condition because economically they'll be behind.
Longer fights are going to be quite good for the archers, as their attack speed is a lot better than that of the Javelin Throwers.
The issue when you're up against Malians typically is that even if you get an age up, Malians will still have a whole bunch of counter units readily available to face off against you. That is until Manjaniqs come in; Manjaniqs kind of put a dampener on that.
Naked fast castle has not worked out too well for Ayyubid in this matchup in particular.
Malians' infantry-based army struggles to chase Manjaniq. To counter Ayyubid Manjaniq, Malians can try to snipe them with mobile units like Sofa or use stealthy Musofadi to surprise them. If Malians can destroy the Manjaniq, the Ayyubid player will be far behind and the Malian cattle boom can resume.
The Ayyubid game plan against Malians: make a few units in Feudal to force the Malian player to make units instead of going for the cattle cow boom, but avoid a big fight. Then age up to Castle quickly and push with Manjaniq to burn down their pit mines.
