Javelins, high base damage, can deal with the Yeoman pretty easily, and even getting a few Musofadi in there works against those kings pretty quickly.
The lords just die hard to sofa play.
The more long-term army composition is just sofa and archers, and that works with most things Lancaster can do.
You can't go for an immediate second pit mine against House of Lancaster.
Sofa plus archer is probably your best feudal answer to what the House of Lancaster has to offer.
House of Lancaster's Abbey of Kings landmark heals units rapidly, while Malians have no healing. This allows HoL to keep units alive and gain value, while Malian units like Donso stay damaged.
Against House of Lancaster, Malians going Javelin Throwers is better than archers because HoL is incentivized to go into archers (Yeomen), and Javelin Throwers counter both spearmen and archers.
Malians should add Musofadi Warriors to deal with House of Lancaster's Lords of Lancaster, as they counter the heavy infantry.
Javelin Throwers are a strong counter to House of Lancaster's Yeomen, so Malians should build them when facing archer-heavy HoL compositions.
Malians' Donso + Javelin Thrower composition is very hard for House of Lancaster to break: Donso protect against cavalry and infantry, while Javelins shred archers and Yeomen.
Against House of Lancaster, Malians should aim for a Sofa + Javelin Thrower composition, as it handles most of HoL's unit types effectively.
Lords of Lancaster have high base damage and can still fight effectively against Donso (Malians' spearmen) despite being melee infantry.
The pit mines and cattle provide so much passive income that not even the Manor economy can keep up.
