Men at arms trade favorably against most knights in the game, but that's if they're at least equal in resources; with archer support, Keshiks just melt through.
HRE infantry are slower than Keshiks, so if they commit to a fight, there's no way to back out.
HRE in general kind of has Mongol's number for the most part. Faster spearman, ability to heal in dark age, and just in general better economy with the HRE feels very strong.
