If you go for archers, you're just losing them to Sipahi. Sipahi is the greatest unit in the game, and making archers into them doesn't serve its purpose.
In the past, Mongols was undeniably the number one Dark Age civilization. However, that spot has belonged to Ottomans for a good while now.
The longer the game goes in Feudal without a significant lead for Mongols, the more it favors Ottomans because of healing from Imams and the Mehter.
