He can offset his gold disadvantage somewhat with those Burgrave spears, which will always be useful against Zhu Xi's Legacy.
Gilded Spearman can maybe if there's two of them take down a monk, but these monks are very capable on their own and they're going to take these relics super quickly.
It's not the end of the world if you don't end up getting a bunch of relics because you mostly go for your Burgrave — it produces units cheaper and gives the same value as a Regnitz Cathedral with a handful of relics.
OOTD's Gilded Crossbowmen have additional range, outranging both Zhu Xi's crossbows and his Zhuge Nu.
You can go 2 TC against Zhu Xi, then play a bit of feudal while teching to Castle, because Zhu Xi is always going to beat you to Castle, but then you have better economy.
OTD players are starting to switch to Burgrave Palace because the Regnitz timing just isn't competitive; you can only really justify Regnitz reliably if you have an existing army, and a couple of men-at-arms isn't an existing army. So instead of trying to rush relics yourself, you try to block them.
Inspired Warriors is a pretty big deal; it's not going to help you that much against Nest of Bees because armor is kind of irrelevant, but it's still going to allow you to kind of burst through the front line a little bit quicker.
Order of the Dragon suffer the most from their reproduction rate; it's a more extreme negative if they're injured because it takes their units so long to die, but when they finally do there's a giant gap in your army for a very long time. Against a healing civ like Zhu Xi, this is even worse.
