How to beat
Sengoku Daimyoas Ottomans
Matchup tips
Sengoku get handcannoneers in castle age. Ottomans also get handcannoneers in castle age. The Janissary does bonus damage against all sorts of cavalry while the Ashigaru handcannoneers from Sengoku only do bonus damage against heavy units like a crossbow unit.
When facing a mass infantry composition like samurai and spearmen, you should only use the melee armor aura on the Mehter because it gets too much value.
With a critical mass of Janissaries and the Mehter's attack speed aura, they can one-shot mounted samurai and fire rapidly.
The military school opening allows Ottomans to slowly apply a little bit of pressure onto those Yatai.
Sipahi are a natural transition. They're not something you're wasting resources on just to respond to the Yatai because you can use them for anything and everything.
Then you have the Mehter which will boost archers from the Ottomans as well, giving us some really strong archers in the Feudal Age compared to the cheaper weaker Yumi. That's quite a difficult spot to be in considering you don't even really want to make them against Sipahi in the first place.
Sipahi's fortitude ability gives extra attack speed and range, making them extremely potent at killing Yatai. Losing a Yatai so early as Sengoku actually hurts a lot.
The Shinobi are going to be enough to at least be annoying here for the spears. Of course they do very very little damage at this point in time. Virtually insignificant – it's more about that debuff and the slow that we see applying.
