Matchup tips
You can start spearing up, and you can kind of secure your Yatai a little bit, but your Yatai are at least in two spaces out on the map. So you have to spread your spears between them while also defending your base, your gold, maybe your woodline depending where your Matsuri is. Archers come out very quickly from the Golden Horde. If you open Yari, that's fine against the Khan and Torguuds initially, but the spears will be on the way and you can't go fast castle either; you will just die very quickly because you have to defend your Yatai but your Feudal is weaker.
Koka township is the right landmark choice in this matchup because even if you don't want to fight, you will get pushed by Golden Horde, and when you get pushed you really want to have this available.
Sengoku's stronger Feudal army compared to Japan is still not strong enough to compete with Golden Horde.
You have plenty of time in the dark age to feudal transition as Sengoku because Golden Horde has a naturally slower age-up and takes time to get going.
You can do a quick three yatai opening against Golden Horde because they take a while to get to feudal age.
Yari cavalry trade nicely against Torguud: Torguud don't do much damage, and Yari have bonus vs cavalry plus healing and attack speed from daimyo.
Torguud production is limited by stone income, so Golden Horde can't remass them quickly after a fight.
Against Golden Horde with Muscovy Yasak, Higo Yumi upgrade is not worth it; the armor makes the damage increase negligible.
