I think the earlyish timing does get improved quite a bit with the rework of the landmarks. I think it's around the six or seven maybe like 8ish minute mark depending on when you get your age up. Right around that time you're going to be getting the big first burst of the resources from the Meditation Gardens.
When the Keshik have the same number as the spears, the rule of thumb is two spearmen per one knight. Against Keshik, it's more like one and a half spearmen per Keshik.
A Zhu spear push strategy is his best. Don't go docks; if you go docks, Mongols are going to have a party on your corpse.
As Zhu Xi, do not gather more gold at all. Tax your way into the Feudal Age and then Meditation Garden drop both the golds.
With the Khan's Hunter, they will outrange the Zhuge Nu by a decent margin, able to even kite them quite well, especially using the signal arrow once he has access to it.
The blacksmith Dali Horses tech giving 20% attack speed is so significant for lancers especially against Keshik.
Zhuge Nu and spears is a tried and true composition. Mongols mirroring with Keshik is good in the short term, but once the spear count starts to climb, they will need archers to back them up.
Mongols can access arrows basically instantaneously once they reach the feudal age courtesy of the Ovoo.
Against Mongols with Piracy, you just don't make demos anymore; focus fully on springald ships and galleys. That's kind of enough if you're prudent with your micro, though being dissuaded from making them can be painful.
Palace Guards are not something you want to make against Keshiks. The base damage from Palace Guards is very low, only nine. They're not effective against Keshik armor, and Keshiks heal for three damage. So with every trade, you're only dealing about three damage to Keshiks as they heal themselves.
Zhuge Nu and spearmen composition wins direct engagements against Keshiks and archers; the DPS from the Zhuge Nu is just too much.
The Kurultai's healing and damage boost is like getting veteran upgrades early, but Zhu Xi's Legacy gets veteran so quickly that they don't care about it, and the units are still unarmored with slow heal.
